Up this week, our featured team is the Under 18's Saturday team.
Currently sitting second out of fifty three teams across the entire Midlands, the under 18's Lions host NC United in the MJPL cup at Varsity Grange.
Having lost just twice so far this season, most recently to league leaders, AFC Telford, the under 18's are performing fantastically in a league packed full of quality teams from much bigger clubs than RBL.
NC United come to Mickleover having hosted both RBL under 18's, losing 4-1, and RBL under 17's when they had more success in a 6-2 win. RBL will have the upper hand mentally having already tasted victory earlier in the season. Goals came from Spencer Bailey, Matther Harding, Lucas Norman and Luke Thompson, with only one in return from NC.
This weekends' match will see league form thrown out of the windows as the two sides battle for progression into the next round of the cup.
RBL's last match saw them travel to Telford, where they faced the league leaders. Unfortunatley, the lads could not match AFC Telford, who ran out 3-1 winners. The cup match this weekend is RBL u18's first match in the cup, having received a bye to this stage.
NC's last match was a 1-0 away defeat to Sutton United. Their path ibnto the second round of the cup was secured the week before, with a 6-4 victory over Droitwich Spa.
The match this weekend promises excitement and the chance for both teams to progress further in the competition.
See you there.
