PREVIEW | HARBOROUGH TOWN JUNIORS VS MICKLEOVER RBL U17
WITH THE SENIORS MATCHES BOTH OFF, THE UNDER 17'S STEP UP AS THIS WEEK'S FEATURED MATCH
THIS WEEK, Both the first team and the reserves have seen their matches postponed due to unplayable pitches. As a result, the under 17's become our focus for the weekend as they aim for second in the Midland Junior Premier League. A superb season so far sees the under 17's sittting in third spot in the under 18's division of the Midland Junior Premier League, which covers the entire midlands.
Today, the Lions travel to Market Harborough, where they face fifth placed Harborough Town Juniors Academy under 18's. With five wins in a row, scoring seventeen goals in the process and conceding none, the Lions are in the form of their lives having lost only once since October. With every match against sides at the top end of the division, the boys have proven their ability week in week out, with several of the lads going on to represent the senior teams as well.
RBL's last match saw them host Leek Town under 17's at Mickleover Varsity Grange. Having lost to Leek Towns under 18's at the start of the season, the lads will have had a point to prove against their younger side. Goals from Finley Robinson, Ben Price, Lucas Norman and James Stafford made sure that there was no repeat of the result against the older Leek boys to make it five clean sheets in a row.
Todays opposition sit in fifth spot in a tightly packed chasing group, with just six points separating second and seventh place, with leaders Telford way out of sight, needing just four points to wrap up the league title. Harborough Town Juniors Academy, having played a game more than the surrounding teams need the points today if they have any hope of pushing for the runners up spot in the league.
Harbrough Town Academy's last match saw them crash to a 3-2 away defeat against current second placed side Aylestone Park Youth.
With both sides chasing the runners up spot, a highly competitive match is anticpiated today.
Good luck to the lads.
